Nowadays, a lot of couples may have been living together for quite a long time before marriage. As a result, they will probably find that they do not really need something for their home. In this case, you can really ask for money. However, you are not asking for money as gifts. You are asking your guests to donate some money to some charities. If you are going to do that, no one will think that you are impolite, though you are asking for money!
