The headline that is supposed to shock has been done too and it has been proven totally ineffective. Such headlines as 'I'm the guy your daddy would shoot on sight' won't attract women. It will make them avoid you like the plague. In addition, make sure to avoid, 'I may be the one you are looking for,' too. Maybe you are, but maybe you aren't. You don't know that. The dating site that you have joined has likely provided you with limited space in which you may place a personal advertisement as well as a photograph of yourself. Use this space wisely. It is all you have to attract the kind of women that you are most interested in meeting. A personal advertisement should be between 200 and 250 words in length. Less than 200 looks like you have something to hide and more than 250 looks like you have too much to say. Remember that the headline has to get attention or nobody will read the rest of your profile. Here is a sample profile that has been shortened somewhat: I found a glass slipper. Is it yours? I am a 27 year old college graduate with a degree in electrical engineering. I haven't started up the corporate ladder yet and I don't want to go alone. I am a very fit sports enthusiast who loves almost all things outdoors. I especially love hiking in the mountains. I spend most weekends hiking with my dog, Jack, in the Blue Ridge Mountains when we aren't on search and rescue missions. I would really like to work in foreign countries for a few years and would like someone to share that adventure with me. I'm looking for a woman who has a sense of adventure and loves the outdoors.
