Taking a short break during the weekend is great if you want to avoid taking time off during the working week (for all of those who are workaholics!), but they can be a great to recharge your batteries quickly and take a time out. One of the most effective ways of doing this to benefit your body and mind is to participate in an activity abroad. The most popular method of unwinding and letting off some steam is to go for a ski weekend break. Ski weekends are popular amongst young people, who are normally looking for a cheaper way to enjoy skiing without having to spend out on expensive chalets. In this instance, hostels and shared accommodations are better for people wanting to experience skiing on its own. The problem arises with the transportation of your equipment and personal belongings from the airport to the resort, these very often are as expensive as the trip. When booking ski weekends, it is a good idea to look into the best possible packages that include 'pick-ups' and 'drop offs', this will make your life easier and give you peace of mind when taking your break. Taxi drivers at the front of the airport may charge you too much, so try to avoid these as much as you can. If you do decide to stay in an affordable chalet, then enquire into whether your price package includes transfer of equipment. Large corporate companies are known for booking ski weekends for team building exercises and creating a positive staff-working environment. This helps the staff to relax amongst their working piers as well as experience a short activity break together. This is recommended for most highly successful companies that work on a tight regime and place a lot of stress on the personnel. Going skiing requires a lot of fitness and strength; therefore, people looking to lose a bit of weight may feel that this would be a great way to lose a few inches around the waist whilst enjoying a short holiday. For those going on a ski trip for the first time, they may feel a little daunted. The best way to prepare is to gain information about skiing as you can. They may even feel more comfortable practising at a dry ski slope venue, just to get a feel of the skiing motion, as this requires a lot of balance and working your leg muscles. The instructors will teach you the best way to warm up, as well as the basics to skiing on piste. Some of the better choices in going for a weekend break skiing are France (Chamonix, Morzine and Chatel), Austria (St Anton and Schladming) and Switzerland (Verbiers and Villars). These offer slopes available for weekend trips and short stay during off-season periods. When travelling during peak season, there will be long waits to ski down the slopes and getting into ski lifts. You will need to see what period is the best time to go before booking your break. The same rule applies as when taking a holiday break and that is the need to buy travel insurance when you opt to go for ski weekends away, as you want to be covered for any unexpected incidences and accidents. Without which could mean in you facing heavy costs in damages, legal fees and costs to cover medical expenses. The medical expenses could entail helicopter ambulances and if you are unfamiliar with the medical systems in the country, then buying insurance will ensure that you will not have to worry about dealing with medical officials.
