Dog training is an important part of your dog's life. However it is even more important for you as dog that doesn't obey your orders is a real trouble.
There are many training methods known. Some are easier while other are employed by professionals only. Since you are not into professional dog training you have two choices to train your dog by yourself or to enroll him into a dog training class.
Dog training can be joy and you can teach your dog most of the basic commands by yourself using dog treats. It is amazing how much your small friend is ready to do and learn only to get the goodie.
Get started.
Prepare or buy a sufficient quantity of dog treats. Choose the type your dog loves, and make sure they are different than his current food. Always carry some in your pocket or a purse so that you are prepared.
Teach your dog to come.
Teaching your dog to come when you are asking him to do so is not that difficult. In fact most of the puppies have already mastered this command even before the serious learning sessions start. This is due to the fact that you are calling your dog when you want to play with him and when you are giving him his food.
However if your are not quite confident that your dog will obey this command practice a little. Give the command and than show the dog treat to your dog. When he comes give him the treat and say something nice. The pleasure of the dog treat and the nice tone of your voice will show your dog that he has done something correctly.
Teach your dog to sit.
Teaching your dog to sit is not that difficult although it may be hard when you are teaching a puppy as they always want to play and even to bite you. Get a dog treat in your hand and hold it just above the dog's head. Than give the command and slowly lower your hand. Your dog will need to sit in order to reach the treat. After a few sessions he will learn what to do when he hears the command even if there is no reward.
Teach your dog to lie down.
Teaching your dog to lie down is almost the same as teaching it to sit. First put the treat above his head and than move it down to the ground. Move the treat away from the dog so that he will need to lie down to reach it. Give the command in the same time.
