What do Sylvester Stallone and Julianne Moore have in common? No it's not broodiness and they aren't dating. But they both have the newest trend, in designer dogs called the Puggle. Puggles are hybrid dogs that are a mix between the Pug and the Beagle. They are known for their small size, adorable looks and calm temperament. According to their owners, they are one of the cutest dogs in the designer class. Although pugs and beagles have genetic challenges in their purebred state, when they are combined they don't have these defects. Puggles are adorable sweet dogs, have lots of energy and are very intelligent. Many people buy them because it is trendy to do so, but it's not the best reason to do so. Many people who get them without knowing more about them end up sending them to a shelter. There is a bit of controversy too, of course because they are a mixed breed and in some people's eyes a "mutt." However, they are generally bred from a pure bred beagle mother and a pure bred pug father so for some people it makes them a purebred high bred. The American Kennel Club doesn't agree however. They have a narrow view of what qualifies as a purebred and it doesn't mean a mix. Therefore, this breed isn't a recognized bred yet, but people love them anyway. Puggles are readily available from many sources. Often you can find them in a shelter though you won't know what to expect and won't have any paperwork on them. You can also find them through ads in the paper sometimes. The way that most people purchase them though is through a reputable dealer which can cost you between $250 and $1,000 depending on where you go. For many people, this is worth it to have the newest craze in dog Dom. With puggles, you get a nice cuddly teddy bear, and you get lots of attention from people outside your space because the puggle is just too cute to pass up. Who could ask for a better dog though? Puggles are friendly so they do well with children and other animals in the home. They also do well with other dogs. They spend most of their life playing, being very mischievous and delighting their humans. You might wonder what puggles eat and whether you need to be concerned about any issues in this area. Puggles do best with a good quality food. They don't do well with the cheapest food on the market. You can feed them raw meat and a good quality protein is something they must have so they don't get sick. Also, watch out for by products in dog food and go instead of extra fiber. Puggles are getting a lot of media exposure and many major newspapers have done stories on them and they have been featured on Ellen and other television shows. As you think about the puggles, search the web because there is a lot of information to help you make a choice.
