There are two basic ways for you to make money with your website. Either you can pull in new people to your website on a regular basis in the hopes of selling to 1 or 2% of those individuals or you can pull more money out of your existing visitors. One of the best ways for you to pull money out of these existing visitors is with regular contact through an autoresponder series. If you have had less than desirable results by using an auto responder in the past, here are three ways that you can improve those results and be happy with your efforts. First of all, you need to make sure that you are reaching your customers on a personal level. Many individuals who use an autoresponder simply blast out a sales message whenever the person first subscribes to the list. Although it is not necessarily a bad idea to try to sell to them on the initial message, it is much better if you do so as a secondary cause. The first thing that you should be doing is to introduce yourself to these people and to give them good information so that they know what to expect in the future. This will make it more likely for them to purchase your product when you do finally try to sell it to them. Another important thing that many people skip is the power of the thank you page. This is the page that is presented to individuals after they initially sign up for your newsletter. You can do one of two different things with this page. If, on the initial squeeze page you were actually selling a product then you can either resell that product on the thank you page or try to upsell them since you know that they are interested in what you have to say. Finally, don't overdo the amount of e-mails that you're sending to these people. There is nothing wrong with sending out a weekly message through an autoresponder but if you send too many, people will get overwhelmed with the amount of e-mail that they are receiving an opt out of your list.
