Is It Written In The Stars?

I want to believe in astrology. I want to believe what I do is predetermined by someone or something that knows more about life than I do. Okay, I just want parts of my life predetermined - like yesterday's speeding ticket. I want my husband to believe it was predetermined too.
Yes, there are times I'd like to go through life on cruise control - but I can't. There's this little voice in my head and it keeps telling me astrology is a pseudo science because it's not based on scientific fact.
The fact that Marilyn Monroe and Pat Boone have the same birthday as I do does make me wonder what the three of us have in common. Then again, one of my cousins and a nephew have the same birthday as I do and we have lots of things in common. We're intelligent, talented, attractive people - obviously, with vivid imaginations.
We're Geminis, the sign of the twins. Supposedly, this means we have two sides to our personality. Maybe yes. Maybe no. My younger son is a Gemini too and he definitely has two sides to his personality - one that agrees with me and one that should agree with me.
If you believe in astrology, you believe my Aquarius husband is charming, persuasive and should be president. Why? Because John has the same birthday as Ronald Reagan.
With horoscopes, however, one size fits all. Last week my horoscope read, "A fulfilling experience will change your life". This could have meant I was going to get a promotion, travel to an exotic place or adopt a puppy. For me, however, the fulfilling experience was stuffing too many clothes in the washer. That changed my life because the washer overflowed and I had to go to the laundromat for three days until it was fixed.
You'd think I'd stop reading my horoscope after that; but we Geminis are stubborn - or what I like to think of as postdetermined. Tomorrow I'd like my horoscope to read, "This is going to be a very happy time in your life". Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment.
Yes, I still want to believe in astrology. However, I'm seeing astrology in a different light. I don't care about the positions of the sun and the moon. I want the stars to tell my future and I want the stars to be George Clooney, Michael Douglas and Sean Connery.
