Does Good Luck Believe In You?

Four leaf clovers, rabbits' feet, horse shoes - some people think these are good luck. I thought a toy mouse was good luck until I lost it. Then I asked myself how I could have the misfortune to lose something that was meant to bring me good fortune. Now people bring me good fortune - especially when they wash the dishes, do the laundry or let me sleep late. A shirt, a tie, a hat - some people have lucky clothes. They wear these clothes on job interviews, to the race track and on blind dates. If people wore their wedding clothes on their anniversaries, I wonder if the divorce rate would go down. According to feng shui, people can do things to their homes to attract good energy. Painting the front door red is meant to bring you money and keeping the toilet cover down is meant to keep you from losing money. Since you can't put the toilet cover down without the toilet seat being down, I think more men should be encouraged to believe in feng shui. No one believes in fortune cookies, but we all love to get them. "You will meet someone to change your life", "You will take a trip in the not distant future" - I grew up with fortunes like these, but now the cookies also provide lottery numbers. Confucius say life without fortune cookies would be unfortunate. Although my husband is fortunate to be tall, good looking and ... married to me, he doesn't think his being half Irish makes him luckier than me. I beg to differ. He has a wife and I don't. When it came to gambling, I used to think my sister was luckier; but maybe she takes more chances. If she takes more chances, she has more chance to win. Everyone wants to win. Everyone wants to make a profit without making much of an effort. When I first played black jack, I was told that I had beginners luck. I smiled and continued to play. Then I started to lose. No one ever tells you that you have long player's luck. Luck means different things to different people. Thomas Jefferson said it was hard work. Donald Trump said it's everything and Shirley Temple said it needs no explanation. Whatever it is, you know when you have it. Of course, when my mother-in-law visits ... I miss my toy mouse.
