I really speak from experience when I tell you that moving is probably the most stressful situation to put yourself in. Trust me when I say don't do it alone. Leave the move to professionals because you really have enough to worry about when you get to where you are relocating to. You have so much to finalize with your personal matters like your bank accounts, the kids school records being transferred on time even the headache of making sure the electricity will be working when you show up at your new home or apartment. So if you take my suggestion to hire a moving and packing company here is what you should look for in a reputable and reliable company. 1. Make sure that they have you and your belongings in their best interest. Look for prior customer's comments on their satisfaction with that company. 2. Make sure you get Insurance for the items they are packing and moving. 3. Your moving and packing company should be licensed and insured themselves. Packing requires more time than you can possibly imagine. You think you gathered enough boxes and newspapers to pack everything when you realize you didn't. There is nothing worse than that. At least with a moving and packing company, whether you're moving locally or internationally, they have an abundant of supplies so that you will never run out. Best of all, the moving company can pack everything for you safe and sound. Packers are serious about their work and trust me when I tell you there is an art to packing properly. There is truly an art to packing a box and a moving truck. If you ever experienced getting to a new location and find that the boxes that carried all your fine china and stemware broken because you didn't put a layer of padding between the dishes and stemware, don't know what heartache and disgust really is. Another good thing about using moving companies is that you can get them to put beds and tables together. There is a small fee for this but who wants to be bothered having to put a bed together after a long day of moving. There is nothing better than sleeping in your own bed. Planning is another stress reducer when moving. Think ahead at all the possibilities of what can you expect when you get to your new location. How late is the grocery store opened or the local pharmacy, you never know what little accident can occur so you need to be prepared.
