It can be very difficult to detect the real from the the phony. One important tip here is this: don't click on the link provided in the e-mail. Always be on the safe side. If you are a member of the site, open a new window and go directly to the site itself. The reason is simple, many of these phishing e-mails use html. They look like the real thing, but more often than not, they will lead to bogus sites also designed to look like the real thing. These sites are geared towards stealing your personal and financial information. Beware! Your computer security is ultimately your responsibility. Taking the steps above can go along way to ensure that you have a safer experience online.
