There is very little in life that is as difficult or frustrating as conducting a job search. The problem with finding jobs is that it is a crucial that you find one that is suitable to you and that it is in a location that you like. It is an important process that you have to go through and it is something that you have to do well. It is also something that most of us do not have a massive wealth of experience in.
So making sure that you get your job search right is not only vitally important but it is also daunting as for many of us it is a step into the unknown and getting it wrong can have really damaging repercussions. So how can you make sure that your job search is effective?
Investing time and effort into the process is very important. This may sound like a bit of a drag but if you can see that the benefits of working hard to get it right will be worth it then you might be able to make a better effort at getting it right. It is not a nuisance process that you complete lightly. Invest time to get it right and you will be rewarded with a great job. So once you have resigned yourself to working hard your search the first step you need to complete is writing a winning CV.
The CV
The curriculum vitae is the piece of paper that details your life's achievements and describes why you would be fantastic for any job that you applied for and why you are the best person in the world and why an employer would be stupid not to pick you out of the hungry mob and employ you in your dream job. Condensing your whole life onto a single document can be a little daunting. But there is no reason for it to worry you.
Just remember to make it clear what roles and responsibilities you held in your past jobs and don't be afraid to blow your own trumpet. You need to be almost arrogant about your abilities. This is your chance to show what you can do and no one else will stick up for you - you have to explain to the employer why you are a great choice for their business. If the CV is successful then you will get an interview and then you can really shine.
Get your CV out there.
The more jobs that you apply for the more likely you are to find the perfect one for you the biggest mistake is to be over selective and refuse to apply for jobs for minor reasons. You will never get a true picture of what the job is like until you have visited the workplace and met the people that work there. It may, at first, look like a boring job in paper but when you visit the workplace you may find a fantastic atmosphere that suits you.
Conversely the advert may sound amazing but you may turn yup to interview and find that the place is really dull and uninspiring. So don't be over selective. Every interview that you get will improve your interview skills and when you finally find that dream job you will be able to use your experience and nail the interview.
